Ever wonder why curls always last longer when hairdressers curl your hair? Well, we are here to give away our secrets!
If you perfect our techniques your curls will be lasting days and you can just touch up curls when needed instead of going over all of your hair and applying heat daily. This means healthy hair in the long term, saving time and looking fabulous while you’re at it!
Firstly start with washed clean hair. Use a lightweight heat protection, for most hair types we recommend L’Oréal Professional Serie Expert 10 in 1 Spray, this is a spray that won’t weigh your curls down and will protect your hair from heat styling, then use L’Oréal Techni Art Siren Waves for shiny soft curls. Work both products through the mid-lengths and ends of towel-dried hair.
Then you will blast dry your hair in all different directions to maximise volume. Make sure your hair is 100% dry by finishing drying on your hair dryer’s cool setting (if there are any damp spots they will feel cold and wet on the cool setting). If your hair isn’t totally dry your curls won’t hold their shape.
Next, you will need a clip to section your hair, smaller sections will make them curlier and holding heat on them for longer will as well. Let each curl cool down tighter than you actually want them to look. Once all of your hair is curled and cooled down from the heat, you will brush them out until they are looking soft and loose for your desired look.
To finish your curls use dry shampoo, we recommend L’Oréal Professional Techni Art Morning After Dust. Using dry shampoo to finish will add texture and hold to your curls without the weight or stickiness/crunch of using a hair spray. The dry shampoo will absorb oils as they are released so your hair will stay cleaner. The best part is that you can touch up any flat curls the next day with ease.
Each day your curls will look softer and more effortless. Once my curls are getting on their last legs, I opt for a cute ponytail. That way I get 3-5 days of great hair from styling it once, touching it up once on day 3, then finishing with a cute pony!
